Description: |
The Burchfield Penney Art Center, designed by Gwathmey Siegel and Associates and the first LEED-certified art museum in New York, was named one of the "Top 44 Places in the World to Go" by The New York Times. Our intent with the new site was to bring our multi-arts venue to life online, presenting Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967) and other artists whose lives have touched Western New York.
Designed to reflect the experience of a physical visit to the museum, the site features artful presentations of thousands of images of artwork, exhibitions, artists and events. Thanks to the support of the Museums for America grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, our collection of more than 8,500 works by over 850 artists, more than 2,500 artist files and a representation of the 250,000 objects in our archives will be available to the public. |
