The City of Calgary's Road Conditions Map was created to deliver winter road conditions information to citizens of Calgary, and provide an online, real-time visual representation of which City routes were clear and which were in the process of being cleared. In addition to route information, the map also allowed citizens to access multiple traffic cameras across the City, and also view where exactly plowing and sanding trucks were working to clear roads. Route-clearing information was fed from Roads supervisors to the Roads Operations, who updated the back-end of the map 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
