Description: |
With the goal of delivering timely, relevant and meaningful business information in a customer-centric manner, the Department of Business and Economic Development created the first Maryland state agency website integrating traditional media with proven new media technology like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Linked In, Flickr and other APIs.
Supporting our goal to create a flexible, adaptable and modular website that reflected and represented the state's business community, we created MDBizTV to highlight key information, aggregate economic news and promote breaking stories. Customers can access up-to-the minute stock quotes, the latest business news and watch related video content.
To increase the interactivity between DBED and our customers, we have created a system that allows approved external stakeholders to be able to update our centralized online calendar, specific content within the site, and upload user generated content to our county pages.
The implementation of a Call to Action area on every page of the site, encouraging customers to share, comment or sign-up from any page is an innovative approach to customer service that is unprecedented in state government. By creating a user friendly platform for customers to share an idea, post a question or communicate a problem, we have developed an ongoing two-way dialog with stakeholders and customers that has enabled us to respond quickly to the needs and concerns of our customers. |
